August 9, 2006
Mrs. Marie Krieger
7533 N Chatham Avenue
Portland, Oregon 97217-5667
Dear Marie,
It is with a great deal of pleasure and our congratulations that we inform you of your selection to receive the AHSGR Special Citation award. The Special Citation is a new award, given for the first time this year, which recognizes a one time outstanding act or continued superior performance in a given area of responsibility in support of the mission of the Society or Foundation. The AHSGR Special Citation is being presented to you this year in recognition of your over 35 years of dedicated and exceptional volunteer service in providing translations of documents, collection and preservation of obituaries, and assistance to others in their genealogical research. The award consists of an appropriate citation and plaque which will be formally presented at the Annual Banquet on Saturday, August 19, 2006 during the Lincoln Convention. Your good friend Ed Wagner will accept the plaque on your behalf, and along with other members of the Oregon Chapter, will present it to you upon his return to Portland.
The Society’s newly established policy is to let award recipients know in advance of their selection. As part of this new approach, a poster bearing the name of the recipient and the official citation will be prominently displayed at the Convention registration desk. This allows persons attending the Convention to know of your having received the award in advance of the formal ceremony during the closing banquet.
Once again we send our most heartfelt congratulations.
Sincerely,
Jerry Siebert, President
J. Paul Hile, Chair
American Historical Society of Germans from Russia
