Marie and Karl Zitzer

This is photo of my grandparents who immigrated to Portland in the early 1910's. They are Marie Huehnargardt Zitzer (Wiesenmueller) and Karl Zitzer (Katharinenstadt). They lived in Northeast Portland. In the early days there they had a cow and chickens! But now the freeway goes through their original land. They were forced to move to another house when the freeway was put in in the 1960's. This photo was taken in the early 1950's outside their house in northeast Portland before the freeway. When they first lived there it was mostly woods and the cow grazed in the woods.
