Marie Miller Olson

Marie Miller Olson, along with her twin sister Anna Miller Reisbick, compiled a wonderful booklet on Norka titled "Norka: A German Village in Russia" in 1981. The booklet was one of the first efforts to research the people of Norka and has been an excellent source of information to many people. The booklet was revised in 1986 and is available from AHSGR.

Marie, a Denver native, died at age 95 on February 28, 2006. Survived by husband Clarence; son Eric (Violet); daughter Karen (Ken) Libby; grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Libby, Tom Schulz, Kristi Rager, and Barbie Adams; sister Ruth Robben of Denver; and six siblings in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from University of Denver Library School in 1940 and worked in the Western History Dept of Denver Public Library. She married a career Army officer and traveled extensively. Marie helped establish the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, serving on the international board of directors for 20 years, and also as president of the society foundation for one year.
