Jill Sterkel
Jill Sterkel was a member of the 1976 United States Olympic swimming team in Montreal. Jill was a 15 year-old high school student from California and she swam the fastest split on the 400 meter freestyle relay that achieved a stunning upset over the heavily favored East German team in the final event of the games. Jill's team also set a world record.
Jill continued her career and became the first woman to make four U.S. Olympic swim teams (1976, 1980, 1984, and 1988), although she didn't compete in 1980 (Moscow) due to the boycot.
She was inducted in the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2002.
